CHICAGO, IL - Conventional actuators are usually designed either for motion control or for energy management. Microhydraulics announces today a "recoil" actuator which combines sophisticated motion control and energy management features.

The three-ported actuator contains two integral valves. One manages the flow across the two working ports as in conventional motion control servo cylinders. A second valve manages energy absorption across the third port. This innovative technique allows the energy to be absorbed into the system without using the PUMP.

The unit also includes integral pressure sensors that allow specified force profiles to be maintained.

Typical applications include weapons positioning and recoil, landing gear for military applications, or load stabilization on mobile equipment. The unit could also be used for load management and positioning for stationary applications, such as log stabilization in a sawmill.
